Mr. Balch writes . . . with deep understanding of a boy’s nature, and with fascinating knowledge of horses.
— New York Herald Tribune

Long out of print, this novel for young people about a boy and a horse is set around Boise, Idaho, and the vast desert south of the city. Full of excitement and mystery, adventure and action, and the breeze of the West, Christmas Horse is one of Idaho writer Glenn Balch’s best novels. Limberlost re-releases it for a new generation of young readers with an introduction by Idaho Statesman columnist Tim Woodward (252 pages).

Born in 1902, Glenn Balch is the author of more than 30 popular and critically acclaimed books of fiction and non-fiction about horses, dogs, ranch life, and action-packed Western adventure. A World War II veteran, Balch also worked as a Forest Service firefighter and briefly as a newspaper reporter before devoting his life to writing. He died in Boise at the age of 87.
