"I have been writing for a long time, sharing in the process a ride and a laugh with lots of good people. This book is for them, and for Susan, with whom I am at home when traveling, with whom I travel when at home."
— Ford Swetnam
Offer the Cup to a Friend offers the last poems by a much loved poet and gifted teacher at Idaho State University, who died of cancer at the age of 60 in April of 2002. In his poems, Swetnam weaves his love for the Arco Desert, north of Pocatello, with poignant candor about his inevitable death. Swetnam is the author of two other collections of poems and was the recipient of awards for teaching from students and faculty at Idaho State University, where he taught since 1976.
