Gary Gildner is the author of 17 books, including a novel, a collection of short stories, and a memoir entitled The Warsaw Sparks, about coaching baseball in Communist Poland. His last collection of poems, The Bunker in the Parsley Fields (1998), received the Iowa Prize. He has won both the William Carlos Williams Prize and the Theodore Roethke Prize for poetry, among other awards.
